Scott St. George is an Associate Professor of Geography, Environment and Society at the University of Minnesota. As an earth scientist trained in dendrochronology,I use evidence preserved in tree rings to understand how and why our environment has changed during the last several hundred or thousands of years. Paleoflood hydrology is one of my core areas of research, having developing new techniques to identify and date past floods using anatomical abnormalities contained within the rings of riparian oak trees.
